The color of the year for 2012 is.............

You may have already heard that this is the color but I thought I would share just in case you haven't! On the Pantone website it says, "Reminiscent of the radiant shadings of a sunset, Tangerine Tango marries the vivaciousness and adrenaline rush of red with the friendliness and warmth of yellow, to form a high-visibility, magnetic hue that emanates heat and energy."

"A winner in cosmetics because of its versatility, Tangerine Tango is a bit exotic, but in a very friendly, non-threatening way. Add a sultry flair to lips, cheeks and nails with Tangerine Tango. An unexpected eye shadow color, Tangerine Tango is a complementary opposite that flatters blue or green eyes. When paired with brown eyes, it brings out an amber cast."

This bold red-orange shade is gorgeous!! But I did however LOVE the Honeysuckle color from last year. Which color do you like best?

Make up Forever's Rouge Artist Intense Lipstick in #40

MAC's lipstick Morange

OPI's "On the same paige"

Make up Forever's aqua cream base #10 for eyes, lips or cheeks

What do you guys think about this bold and exotic color? Will you be wearing this color on your face, nails or clothes?
I think I really love it!

How to find the correct foundation color

Have you ever felt so lost when it comes to finding the correct color of foundation?! You don't want something too light otherwise your face looks like a ghost and then you don't want something too dark that you have this round circle stopping right at your neck and you become this floating head. ughhh. Why does it have to be so complicated?

Notice how Emily Blunt's face is a lot paler then the rest of her body? Poor thing! She still looks beautiful, maybe she had spent the day out on the beach and got a tan and then didn't have time to go get a little darker foundation color?? Anyways, the point is it's super important to get the correct color match of foundation! I've totally made this mistake before, I'm sure we all have! I have gotten into the habit of taking a picture of myself before i'm done with my makeup because sometimes the bathroom mirror lies and a picture tells you the truth! We all get darker in the summer and paler in the winter so its important to have a darker and lighter shade of foundation on hand for the different seasons.

I think a good place to start is to figure out your correct undertone. It has taken me awhile to figure out my own just because for awhile my skin was pretty tanned growing up and I always thought that I must have  olive skin undertone. What I didn't understand was that the tan was my skin tone, there are lots of different skin tones, very light, light, medium, dark, etc. and there is another part to your skin called the undertone. I was getting these two mixed up!

Sooo, then I moved to Idaho. Land of snow and ice for 9 months out of the year. Where your skin never see's the sunlight. My skin is very white now and I can really tell that I naturally have a light skintone with a little pink in the undertone. I would consider it more neutral/cool because it's not super pink but its not super yellow either. A good way to figure your own skin undertone is to wear a white shirt or put a white plain piece of paper up to your face and you will definitely be able to tell. There are cool (pink) and  warm (yellow) undertones and a neutral undertone.

Once you've figured your undertone out most foundation brands will tell you if they are for pink undertones or yellow undertones, olive or beige undertones.

If you live near a store that carries the brand of foundation you want to buy, go in there and swatch alittle on your jaw line to see if it blends in and disappears. This will be your correct shade. The key is you don't want to see it! Also, it helps to talk with a professional who works there and they can help match your color if your still struggling.

But, if you're like me and live in a small city where the nearest Sephora is 4 hours away then you can go here.
Coolest website EVER! I just barely stumbled across it and it is sooo cool! I'm way excited I found it! What you do is enter in your skin tone and undertone and then it shows you a graph of different brands of foundations and the color. So you find a brand and the color that matches you best that you've already used and from there you can find the correct color in another brand without even having to try it on! For example I know for sure that I am Fairly Light in Bare Escentuals bare minerals foundation, so then from there I go down the graph and find that I am a #115 in Make up Forever HD foundation. Does that make sense? If not, go there and try it out! It's called Foundation Matrix.

Hope this all helps with your next purchase of foundation!
What are your favorite brands of foundation to use?

Brrrrrrrrrrrr it's cold outside!

I don't know about where you live but where I live it has already started to snow! Can you believe it?! It's beautiful but I'm not sure I'm ready yet for the snow. As soon as things start to get colder my skin starts to get dry and itchy. In this post we are going to discuss some good moisturizers to use for you face in this cold, wintery weather! What kind of moisturizers are your favorites?

My all time favorite moisturizer that works good for all skin types and also has sunscreen in it is the

I love the way this smells! So yummy! If you have problems with oily skin throughout the day this would be the right moisturizer to use.

Also by Mychelle I really like the Pumpkin Renew Cream, great for all skin types

Another brand that I am in love with is AnnaMarie Borlind
For combination skin type try their Skin Light Combination Moisturizer
or if you have sensitive skin try their ZZ Sensitive Moisturizer
and those of you who have dry skin try their Rose Dew Cream

Hope everyone is having a great November so far! Getting super excited for Thanksgiving this year. Now go get some new moisturizer so you can all have pretty, fresh, smooth faces for this beautiful time of year!! Cause, who wants an itchy dry face?! Not this girl!

Photoshoot fun!

I had the opportunity to work on a photoshoot on saturday. Seriously had SO much fun!

The shoot was inspired by Beneath the Starry Sky by Emily Soto, check it out here

Makeup was more of a neutral natural smoky eye with really dark reddish cranberry lips.
The two models were so sweet and wonderful to work with. I did makeup for the beautiful miss Cait and then  a friend of my husband's wife, Sara, ( who is also a MUA) helped out with the other model, beautiful miss Courtney. It was soooo soooo much fun to work with another MUA!

Here's a sneak peak!!

More to come soon!

Yummy Fall Homemade Facial Mask

Fall is in the air and I absolutely LOOOOVVVVEE it! I wish it could stay like this all year round. I have been super busy doing all sorts of fall stuff with my kids. We made pumpkin spice pancakes for breakfast and went for a walk to look at different colors of leaves, I think I am probably having more fun though! I just LOVE everything about fall, apples, pumpkin patches, leaves changing colors and all the yummy recipes you can make with cinnamon and nutmeg.
So, I follow this site called the Krazycouponlady, have you ever heard of it? Such an awesome site that helps you find the best deals on stuff and teaches you how to become a crazy coupon lady! =) Anyways, today I was reading on there and the latest post was about how to make a facial mask from ingredients that you already have at home! So since I like to save money on beauty stuff I thought I could share this with you guys! You can go here to see her post.

Here's a picture of me with the homemade mask on!

All it is, is 3 simple ingredients!

(I cut the recipe in half of what she said to do)

1 tbsp Honey
1/2 tsp Cinnamon
1/2 tsp Nutmeg

Mix them all together to create a yummy smelling paste and slather that on all over your face!
Seriously, smelt like fall on my face! hahaha

I left mine on for about 20 minutes...She say's to leave it on for 30 minutes but mine started to burn alittle bit but that's just because my skin is sensitive. So if you have to leave it on for 10-15 min that's fine too, do whatever feels right for your skin!

After I washed this baby off oh man let me just tell you how soft my skin was! My husband came home for lunch while I was wearing the mask, he was like "what the heck?!" haha. So after I washed it off I made him feel how soft my face was cause dang, seriously SO flipping soft! He agreed, it was pretty soft! haha =)

So there ya go! Go try it! I promise you will LOVE it!
